ESMA, the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, have made available the anticipated published version of UAE RoHS on their website.

Regulation No. 10, prescribing restrictions on the use of hazardous materials in electronic and electrical devices, was approved on 10 April 2017 and published on 27 April 2017. The regulation officially entered into force on 28 April 2017, according to the Official Gazette .

Date of application of mandatory substance restrictions:

January 2018: restrictions on lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE in EEE (other than equipment listed in Category 11, 'Other EEE') including cables or spare parts for the repair, the reuse, the update of functionality or upgrade of capacity of EEE

January 2020: restrictions on lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE in medical devices, in vitro diagnostic medical devices, monitoring and control instruments and industrial monitoring and control instruments, and Category 11 products; restrictions on DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP in EEE including cables, spare parts for repair, the reuse, the update of functionality or upgrade of capacity of EEE

January 2022: restrictions on lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs and PBDEs in cables and spare parts of medical devices, in vitro diagnostic medical devices, monitoring and control instruments and industrial monitoring and control instruments; restrictions on DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP in medical devices, in vitro diagnostic medical devices, monitoring and control instruments and industrial monitoring and control instruments, including cables and spare parts.
